🎄 Welcome! How to Use This Free Beginner Piano Lesson
Here’s everything you need to teach your child Jingle Bells with just five white keys — even if you don’t play piano.
Follow the simple steps below and have fun learning together!
1. Print the Worksheets
You can download all pages below. Here’s how to use each one:
✔ Jingle Bells Finger-Number Sheet
This is the sheet music they’ll read. Finger numbers match the video exactly.
✔ Finger-Tracing Pages
Have your child trace their right hand and glue/tape the stockings onto the matching fingers.
This helps beginners remember which finger is 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5.
✔ Keyboard Strips
Cut it out and place it above your piano/keyboard keys.
This shows where each finger should go — makes the first lesson MUCH easier.
✔ Additional Sheet Music
2. Complete the Video Lesson
Play the step-by-step video together.
Your child will learn how to:
- Place their right hand on C–D–E–F–G
- Use finger numbers 1–5
- Learn the melody in small, easy patterns
- Play the full beginner version of Jingle Bells
Pause or rewind anytime — slow progress is ok!
3. Play Along With the MP3 Track
Once your child can play the melody slowly, try the instrumental backing track.
It makes practice feel exciting and keeps kids motivated.
Tip:
Start with the video’s slow version, then switch to the MP3.
4. Keep Practice Short & Fun
A few helpful reminders:
- 2–5 minutes is plenty for beginners
- Celebrate even tiny success (“You played those first 3 notes!”)
- If they get frustrated, go back to the last part they played confidently
- Kids love repetition — do the first phrase often before moving on
Your child doesn’t need to master the whole song in one day.
5. Color the Picture After Playing
The coloring elements on the worksheet are a built-in reward.
Tell your child:
“Each time you play the song, you can color one more thing in the picture!
This is great for tracking practice and building confidence.
6. Ready for More Christmas Piano?
Try the 2 additional songs (Up on the Housetop and Deck the Halls).
